Seth T. Floyd
Seth T. Floyd is a seasoned public servant and attorney, with nearly two decades of experience in local government, land use law and urban planning.
Originally from North Carolina, Seth began his career with the city of Las Vegas in 2005 as a city planner. He later served on the city’s Government Affairs team during the 2007 Nevada Legislative Session before pursuing a legal career. After earning his law degree, he practiced in both the private and public sectors, returning to the city in 2017 as a deputy city attorney. In that role, he advised multiple departments and represented key boards and commissions—including the Planning Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, Arts Commission and the Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial—while also litigating complex cases in state and federal courts.
Appointed director of community development in 2021, Seth led the successful merger of the Planning and Building & Safety departments, streamlining the city’s development review process. He has also played a key role in shaping legislative priorities at the state and federal levels, advocating for policies that support housing, sustainability and more.
Seth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy with Honors and Distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV, where he was named the Outstanding Graduate. He clerked for the Nevada Supreme Court and has been a licensed attorney in Nevada since 2010. He earned his AICP certification in 2022.
